BANGKOK, Thailand – The SUPPORT Foundation has unveiled its 2026 Khon production, Sida, with a special media preview at the Thailand Cultural Centre ahead of its official performances from November 5 to December 10. The production showcases Thailand’s traditional masked dance drama through a combination of advanced stage techniques and the art of traditional masks, costumes, and choreography. Khon was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018, recognizing its cultural significance and its place in Thailand’s national identity.
Based on the Thai epic Ramakien, this year’s performance centres on Lady Sida and her journey through love, separation, hardship, and loyalty, culminating in a trial of her innocence. The production also highlights the skills and dedication of young performers, practitioners, and artisans who are helping carry this treasured art form forward.
The SUPPORT Foundation’s annual Khon production continues a royal initiative of Her Late Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, to preserve and pass on Thailand’s cultural heritage to future generations. This year’s staging is also held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Suthida’s 48th birthday anniversary. Audiences will have the opportunity to experience one of Thailand’s most celebrated performing arts and witness the efforts to keep this cultural tradition alive. Performance details and ticket reservations are available through THAITICKETMAJOR. (NNT)
