Crackdown on foreign beggars

An intensive crackdown took place this week regarding foreign workers in Pattaya, in particular those working as beggars using infants to gain money from tourists.

Pol. Col Roy Inkphairoj held a meeting stating that to conform with the Immigration office policy officers would have to do their utmost in monitoring procedures and work hours and that this was a matter of security, surveillance with the purpose of arresting the offenders so that Pattaya can reach international standards.

Pattaya Police therefore rounded up 35 foreign beggars who were found to be living in the kingdom illegally and begging for a living.

Officers listen intently to orders.
