BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with national disaster command centers to manage severe weather, deliver essential relief supplies, and maintain the continuity of air cargo exports. On October 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun attended the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meeting chaired by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The committee instructed all provincial authorities to integrate their emergency response plans ahead of heavy rainfall expected between October 4 and 10, 2026. Participating agencies were also tasked with accelerating public weather warnings and educating citizens about their rights under the national disaster insurance program.

During the session, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to closely monitor air cargo operations, which are essential for sustaining export momentum and economic confidence. She commended the swift inter-agency actions that prompted Thai Airways to reconsider its suspension of freight services, allowing cargo transport to resume smoothly.

To support field operations, the Ministry of Commerce has prepared 1,500 disposable paper toilets for immediate distribution to flood-affected communities via the Ministry of Interior. The ministry will allocate additional supplies to provincial areas and Bangkok based on local needs.

The ministry is closely monitoring the supply and pricing of essential consumer goods to prevent hoarding and price gouging. Authorities assure the public that supplies remain sufficient and well-distributed. Residents who encounter unfair pricing during the crisis are encouraged to report incidents to the Department of Internal Trade hotline at 1569. (NNT)
