Chiang Mai adventure-based tourism tipped to grow

CHIANG MAI – Chiang Mai Tourism Business Association President Pornchai Chitnawasatian disclosed that the number of Chinese tourists to the Thai northern city will not decrease by more than 10 percent throughout this year.

However, the numbers of tourists from other countries will continue to grow especially those from the United States and Japan, he said.

The tourism association chief said Chiang Mai will focus more on qualitative development of tourist industry by organizing tourism-related activities throughout the year with the newly-constructed tourist attractions.

For instance, adventure-based tourism at national parks in the province registered the highest growth last year.
