Chao Phraya Dam ramps up water release to 2,000 cubic meters/sec while Pa Sak Dam flow reduced to manage downstream flooding.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Irrigation Department will release water from Chao Phraya Dam at 2,000 cubic meters per second this afternoon, adjusting the Pa Sak Cholasit Dam discharge to manage downstream impacts and improve flood drainage to the Gulf of Thailand.

This morning, flow at Nakhon Sawan’s C.2 station reached 2,101 cubic meters per second and continues to rise. Water management upstream aims to retain water where possible while feeding irrigation canals, but low-lying areas in Chai Nat, Ang Thong, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya provinces may experience flooding.

The Pa Sak Cholasit Dam currently holds 464.6 million cubic meters of water (48.4% capacity), with discharge lowered from 150 to 100 cubic meters per second to ease downstream pressure until Sept. 14. The department continues to monitor heavy rains from the monsoon trough and advises residents to follow updates closely. (TNA)
