Bangkok’s new real-time flood monitoring system lets residents track water levels at 108 major roads and underpasses across the city, ensuring safer and smarter travel during the rainy season.

BANGKOK, Thailand – As the rainy season intensifies, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has launched a comprehensive real-time flood monitoring system to help residents plan their journeys and avoid flooded streets. The system tracks water levels at 108 locations throughout the city, including major roads, intersections, and underpasses that are often affected during heavy rainfall.

Residents can easily access the system by scanning a QR code provided by BMA or visiting weather.bangkok.go.th/Flood

The platform provides continuous, up-to-the-minute updates on water levels, enabling commuters to make informed decisions before heading out.

The initiative is part of BMA’s broader strategy to manage traffic and water flow during the rainy season. By allowing people to monitor conditions in advance, the system helps reduce traffic congestion, prevent vehicles from getting stuck in flooded areas, and minimize the risk of accidents. It also lightens the burden on city officials, who traditionally had to respond to flood-related inquiries in person.
