BANGKOK, Thailand – Kosolwat Intuchanyong, Director-General of the Office for the Protection of Rights and Legal Assistance, advised the family and hospital involved in the recent incident in Krabi’s Plai Phraya Hospital to file a police report after a pickup truck blocked an emergency vehicle, preventing timely patient transfer.
He stressed that no personal emotions override the law. If the driver’s actions contributed to a death, they could face serious criminal charges, including negligence causing death or intentional endangerment. The case will be investigated based on evidence, not emotions. Kosolwat also likened the act to previous incidents where vehicles obstructed ambulances, emphasizing the need for calm and responsible behavior in society.
The company employing the pickup driver issued a statement confirming the individual was their staff. Following an internal review, the company terminated the employee, expressing deep condolences to the deceased’s family and those affected by the incident. (TNA)
