BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed concern for the safety of Thai nationals in Russia amid unrest in Moscow, saying the government is closely monitoring the situation. The prime minister added that his concern also extends to Thai citizens in other countries facing potential security risks. Anutin said he is confident that governments have measures in place to protect residents and visitors from security threats and urged Thai nationals to follow local safety advisories and regulations. The premier also advised anyone requiring assistance to contact the nearest Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate.


On the sidelines of the ASEAN-Russia Summit, Anutin met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to exchange views on international developments and issues affecting their respective countries. He said both sides agreed that each government has a duty to safeguard its national interests. The prime minister also sought to reassure the Thai public, reiterating that dialogue with neighboring countries is expected to help address issues constructively and identify practical solutions. He added that Thailand should pursue outcomes that protect national interests while promoting mutually beneficial relations with its neighbors. (NNT)
