Bangpra Golf Course
Stableford

We found ourselves back at Bangpra after only three weeks to find this course had maintained the very good condition we had found on that occasion. Fairways are well grassed and mown to a good height and the greens still nice and slick, but running truly.

Last time, we mentioned the tee boxes and these have had the cut that we had hoped for. It becomes a habit commenting about how challenging this course is and that big scores are not expected. Indeed, at our previous visit, the top score was 34 points.

It was only five days ago that Thierry Petrement had his most recent win and, Wednesday, kept that excellent form going. He showed plenty of golfing skill to score a runaway score of 40 points for the win and another Green Jacket, and proved that it is possible to get a good score here.

Tony Browne played one of his good games to score 33 points to take second place. In the same group as Tony, Martin Patch took third spot with 32 points.

The weather was hot and still for the first nine but a little relief came with a slight breeze in the run home.

Winners at Bangpra
1st Place – Thierry Petrement (12) – 40 pts
2nd Place – Tony Browne (16) – 33 pts
3rd Place – Martin Patch (18) – 32 pts
Best Front Nine (non winners) – Tommy Marshall – 19 pts
Best Back Nine (non winners) – Paul Smith – 18 pts

The first group teed off 25 minutes ahead of our scheduled time and made good pace. Twelve golfers out Wednesday with, once again, that terrific voucher deal of 1200 baht all-in.

Yes, there were monkeys around, but not sighted until about the sixteenth tee, and then there were plenty of them.

We have already purchased the same priced vouchers, so we will return to this good course next month to challenge Thierry’s 40 points.
