PATTAYA, Thailand – A 28-year-old woman reported to Pattaya police early Saturday that she had allegedly been held against her will and assaulted by a Chinese man inside a condominium in South Pattaya, saying she was unable to leave the room for more than three hours before being rescued.
The woman, identified in Thai reports as “Beam”, went to Pattaya City Police Station at about 6 a.m. on September 12 and filed a complaint with an investigating officer. She told police that her mobile phone had gone missing and that she suspected a younger woman she knew might have taken it. She was later told that she could retrieve the phone at a condominium on Thappraya Road, so she went there with her older sister.
According to her account, a Chinese man inside the room opened the door and pulled both women inside. Her sister managed to break free and escape, but Beam said she was unable to leave.
She alleged that the man prevented her from leaving, forced her to remove her clothes and attempted to force her into sexual activity. She said she refused and was subsequently assaulted, leaving her injured.
The woman told police the incident lasted more than three hours. She also alleged that the man appeared intoxicated and showed her about 30 “K” vape heads while she was inside the room.
People who knew the woman later arrived and helped her leave the condominium, after which she went to the police station to report the incident.
Following the complaint, Pattaya police investigators and patrol officers went to the condominium with the assistance of the building management. They found the Chinese man in the room and brought him to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning. Police said the man was uncooperative and resisted officers during the operation, making it difficult to take him into custody and bring him for questioning. During the inquiry, the man was reportedly unable to produce documents requested by police for verification.
Police said they would gather statements and other evidence from all sides before deciding what legal action is appropriate. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against the man have not been proven in court.
