PATTAYA, Thailand – The U.S. Navy ships may have left Thailand, but Pattaya’s security teams are not standing down, with municipal officers, police, military personnel and district officials continuing joint patrols to protect tourists, foreign visitors and residents across the city. Pattaya municipal officers are working alongside Tourist Police, Pattaya City Police, military personnel, Banglamung district defense volunteers and other agencies in coordinated foot patrols through busy tourist areas.
The heightened presence was introduced during the five-day visit of the USS Abraham Lincoln and around 5,000 U.S. Navy personnel, but authorities are continuing the patrols now that the sailors have departed. The aim is to maintain a safe environment for everyone visiting or living in Pattaya, rather than making security a temporary measure linked to one major event. Officers are continuing to walk through busy streets and tourist zones, providing assistance, monitoring for potential problems and maintaining a visible presence where large numbers of visitors gather.
The operation comes as Pattaya continues to welcome tourists from Thailand and around the world, with visitors heading to its beaches, restaurants, shopping areas, hotels and entertainment districts. Security teams are expected to remain visible in these areas to give visitors confidence and help prevent incidents. During the U.S. Navy visit, Tourist Police also deployed drones over Pattaya Beach, Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier, while additional officers conducted foot patrols and coordinated with businesses to respond quickly to problems.
With the USS Abraham Lincoln now sailing away after its September 2–6 port visit, Pattaya’s message is that the work continues. The city remains focused on protecting those already here and those planning to visit in the days and weeks ahead.
