Julapun Amornvivat says Thaksin Shinawatra will play no formal advisory role in Pheu Thai after parole, but remains an influential “spirit” of the party.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Julapun Amornvivat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, has confirmed that Thaksin Shinawatra will not take up any official advisory role with the party following his scheduled parole on May 11.

Julapun stated that the party has made no preparations for Thaksin to return in any formal capacity, emphasizing that Pheu Thai remains a political institution not dependent on any single individual. However, he acknowledged that Thaksin continues to represent the “spirit” of the party and could still offer informal insights and perspectives based on his experience.

He added that while Thaksin may share opinions or advice on political and economic matters, any influence would be informal and not part of an official position within the party structure.

Regarding Thaksin’s return to public life, Julapun said it is a personal matter and welcomed the opportunity for him to reunite with family, describing it as a positive development. He also downplayed speculation over political symbolism or additional conditions related to parole, saying such details were secondary. (TNA)
