A masked gunman disguised as a delivery rider storms a gold shop in the Ekachai Road area, escaping with gold worth over 1.6 million baht as police launch an urgent manhunt.

SAMUT SAKHON, Thailand – Police have launched an urgent manhunt after a lone gunman disguised as a delivery rider stormed a gold shop inside a shopping mall in Ekachai Road area and escaped with gold worth over 1.6 million baht, May 2.

CCTV footage shows the suspect, approximately 170 cm tall and wearing a rider-style jacket with a face covering, walking calmly into the store before suddenly pulling out a handgun and threatening staff, causing panic inside the shop.



The suspect then climbed over the glass counter, grabbed gold jewelry from display cases, and fled down an escalator to the ground floor before escaping on a motorcycle parked outside.

The stolen items are estimated at around 23 baht weight in gold jewelry, valued at more than 1.6 million baht.


Following the incident, senior police officials ordered a coordinated operation involving provincial and regional investigative units to track down the suspect. Forensic teams have also been deployed to collect fingerprints and other evidence from the scene.

Authorities say checkpoints and nearby area coordination have been activated in an effort to intercept the suspect as quickly as possible. (TNA)
