BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas met with Grab Group Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Anthony Tan on August 7, 2026, to discuss cooperation on digital platforms to expand opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs and strengthen the grassroots economy. Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaichanok Chidchob also attended the meeting at Government House. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged Grab’s role in Thailand’s digital economy, especially its support for income opportunities for drivers and entrepreneurs. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing national competitiveness and fostering innovation through digital transformation.
The Thais Help Thais Plus program generated 10 million orders through Grab, demonstrating how food delivery platforms can boost revenue and expand market access for restaurants nationwide. The government aims to build on short-term stimulus by strengthening entrepreneurs’ long-term capabilities and supporting sustainable business operations. Grab’s management welcomed the government’s digital economy vision and integrated approach to public administration. The company reaffirmed its support for government policies by promoting digital technology, developing artificial intelligence skills, and creating economic opportunities for entrepreneurs across Thailand.
The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Grab for supporting the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, stressing that this cooperation will help showcase Thailand’s digital economic ecosystem internationally. The Deputy Prime Minister also welcomed Grab’s collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society on AI and digital skills training.
