PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai government has dismissed social media claims that the Aranyaprathet border crossing in Sa Kaeo province has been reopened to allow Cambodian students to enter Thailand for schooling, urging the public not to believe or share false information. Government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek clarified on June 1 that reports circulating online about the reopening of the Thai-Cambodian border checkpoint are untrue. She emphasized that the government has not authorized the reopening of the border crossing and that no such measure is currently in effect.
According to the spokesperson, misinformation has been spreading on social media suggesting that Cambodian students would be permitted to cross through the Aranyaprathet checkpoint to attend schools in Thailand. Authorities have confirmed that these reports are false and warned the public to verify information through official channels before sharing it. The government reiterated that the Thai-Cambodian border remains subject to existing restrictions and that there has been no change in policy regarding the opening of border checkpoints. Officials continue to monitor online misinformation and encourage citizens to rely on official government announcements for accurate updates regarding border operations and cross-border travel.
