SURAT THANI, Thailand – A senior police official has praised Surat Thani City Police Station for using technology and improved operational training to strengthen crime prevention, enhance public safety and build confidence among residents and visitors. On August 4, Police Lieutenant General Trairong Piwpan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, visited Surat Thani City Police Station to provide encouragement to officers and deliver operational guidance.



He was welcomed by senior police commanders, including Police Major General Narongrit Dansuwan, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 8, Police Colonel Sirichai Koetsri, Deputy Commander of Surat Thani Provincial Police, and Police Colonel Pornnarong Kan-ornchai, Superintendent of Surat Thani City Police Station, along with officers who presented training demonstrations and received policy guidance.

Police Lieutenant General Trairong praised Surat Thani City Police for effectively applying technology and innovation in crime prevention and suppression. He noted that the use of modern tools and improved management had helped maintain order, with no reported incidents of fighting during major events held in the area. The focus on safety is particularly important for Surat Thani, a province known as the gateway to some of Thailand’s most popular island destinations, including Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Thousands of Thai and international tourists travel through the province each year to enjoy its beaches, marine attractions and world-renowned island lifestyle.

The deputy inspector general instructed officers to maintain discipline as the foundation of professional policing, saying that strong discipline brings efficiency, order and confidence among the public. He also emphasized the importance of tactical training, which helps officers make better decisions and respond effectively while protecting lives and property. He further reminded officers to uphold the ideals of police service throughout their careers and strengthen the role of police as true guardians of public peace. Police Lieutenant General Trairong said public trust in the police is not created by announcements from senior officials, but through the daily actions, responsibility and dedication of every officer serving the community.
