PATTAYA, Thailand – A late-night fire at a condominium building in Pattaya left two people injured and more than a dozen residents affected by smoke before emergency crews brought the blaze under control. Pattaya Tourist Police Unit 4, Division 2, received a report of the fire at around 2.17 a.m. on August 4. Firefighters used water hoses to contain the blaze, as fire engines were unable to reach the building directly due to access limitations. The fire was eventually brought under control.
The tenant told officials that while sleeping inside the room, they heard a sound similar to an electric stove exploding before seeing flames inside the unit. The occupant immediately escaped and contacted authorities. Two people were injured in the incident, including a Czech tourist and a Thai national, and were taken to hospital for treatment. Another 12 people suffered minor smoke inhalation but declined medical treatment. Property damage is still being assessed.
Investigators from Pattaya City Police Station questioned witnesses, coordinated with forensic officers to examine the scene, reviewed CCTV footage and gathered further statements from those injured to determine the exact cause of the fire. Pattaya Tourist Police also coordinated with relevant agencies to assist affected tourists and residents, provide support for injured individuals and help ensure the situation returned to normal.
