CHONBURI, Thailand – A trailer truck crashed into an SUV at a U-turn on Route 344 in Ban Bueng district early on Sept. 14, sending the SUV off the road and into roadside grass. The crash left people injured and caused heavy traffic congestion. The accident occurred at about 6:40 a.m. at the U-turn in front of the PT Nong Samsak petrol station on Route 344, which connects Ban Bueng with Klaeng, on the side heading towards Chonburi town.
The force of the collision sent the SUV off the roadway and into a grassy area beside the road.
Initial reports indicated that there were injuries, although details of the number and severity of those injured were not immediately available.
The damaged vehicles and debris remained around the crash site, obstructing traffic and causing vehicles to build up along the route. Authorities and relevant agencies were expected to clear and recover the vehicles and remove obstructions to reopen the affected traffic lanes as quickly as possible. Motorists travelling through the area were advised to slow down and exercise caution when approaching the crash site because of the damaged vehicles and accumulated traffic.
