Sports-related projects constitute the majority of requests for city funding in the coming year, the chairman of the city council’s Tourism and Culture Committee said.
Rattanachai Sutidechanai said, as it stands now, most of the city’s tourism-promotion budget will go toward events like the already-held Pattaya Color Run, Pattaya Bed Race, and Children’s Day activities, as well as the upcoming Kite Championship.

He said he will discuss with Pattaya’s mayor and the city council to see if there is any way to allocate some funding from other tourism promotion activities to augment the sporting events.
Pradit Thongchai, head of Sports Development for Tourism Sector, said sports-related events receive good responses from both Thai and foreign tourists and help create confidence for foreigners to take part in the recreational activities that will be held in Pattaya.
