PATTAYA, Thailand – The Pattaya Disaster Relief Radio Center received a report of a fire at a boarding house located at 41/17 Soi South Pattaya, at 11:36 p.m. on September 9. Police from Pattaya City Police Station and fire crews were dispatched immediately.
When firefighters arrived, flames and thick smoke were pouring from room C3 on the third floor of the three-story building, next to a popular barbecue restaurant. Panic broke out among residents as police rushed to evacuate tenants. Firefighters worked quickly to stop the blaze from spreading to adjacent rooms and brought it under control within 20 minutes. The affected room was completely destroyed.
The tenant, Nirut Nakchum, 56, a motorcycle taxi driver, told authorities that he lived there with his son and often left his rice cooker plugged in to keep food warm. Before the fire, he had gone out to work, leaving no one inside. A neighbor later called to inform him that his room was on fire, but by the time he returned, all his belongings had been destroyed.
Fire crews confirmed the fire was fully extinguished and handed the scene over to police for a detailed investigation into the exact cause. The incident serves as a stark warning: leaving appliances plugged in unattended can turn into a devastating disaster in minutes.
