PATTAYA, Thailand – A man believed to be intoxicated crashed his car onto a road median in Pattaya late on April 22 before being rescued by emergency crews.
The incident occurred at around 11:50 p.m. on Sukhumvit Road near the entrance to the Motorway Route 7 overpass, heading toward Chonburi.
Rescue workers found a grey Honda Jazz stranded on the median with the driver locked inside. The man, identified as 42-year-old Suchart Charoenthua from Sukhothai Province, was reportedly shirtless, wearing only shorts and shouting incoherently from inside the vehicle.
As the doors were locked from the inside, rescue workers had to force entry to remove him from the car. Authorities said he appeared heavily intoxicated and was unable to respond clearly to questions.
During initial questioning, the man allegedly admitted to using drugs and said he had inhaled ketamine before the crash. Police from Pattaya City Police Station later took him into custody for further questioning, drug testing and legal proceedings.
