A Bangkok man was injured after driving his car into a university pond following a dispute with his mother over a condo rental. Police are investigating.
BANGKOK, Thailand – A 29-year-old man was injured after driving his car into a pond at a university in Bangkok on Thursday morning, June 18, following an argument with his mother, according to police. Officers from Pathum Wan Police Station responded to the scene at around 6 a.m. and found a passenger car submerged in a pond within the university grounds. Rescue workers and emergency medical personnel assisted the driver and transported him to hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations found that the man had been involved in a dispute with his mother before the incident. According to authorities, he wanted his mother to help rent a condominium costing approximately 27,000 baht per month, but the two were unable to reach an agreement. Police said the disagreement left the man upset and distressed. He subsequently drove into the university grounds and headed toward the pond area.
Security guards reportedly attempted to stop him and urged him to halt the vehicle, but the driver accelerated, crashed through a barrier, and drove into the water. No other people were injured in the incident. The driver was the only person hurt and was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Police are continuing their investigation and are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the driver’s mental state and motivation. (TNA)
