A group of transvestites circling a group of Indian tourists were stopped in their tracks by Pattaya police suspecting they were about to pickpocket the visitors.

Patrolling the beach amid rampant complaints about ladyboy pickpockets, officers swooped in Oct. 10 on a gaggle of men in dresses as they approached the Indians. The transgenders were riding in on a motorbike with no license plate.

Officers checked the identification cards of the 18- and 19-year-old suspects, searched them and their bikes, but found nothing untoward. Police took them to the station and recorded their personal information and took their photos.

But as neither had actually committed a crime, they were released without charge.
