Pattaya seniors use traditional dance to keep limber

The elderly are taught to use loincloths for various exercises to stay fit and limber.

Nongprue’s elderly were encouraged to keep limber by exercising using Thai loincloths.

Mayor Mai Chaiyanit led senior citizens in “dancing with karma band” at the subdistrict’s health park, accompanied by deputies and administrators.

The traditional dances are suitable for the elderly and can be made part of daily health regimens to get seniors out of bed and out of the house, as well as fight off arthritis and chronic disease by keeping limber and active.

The angle of shoulder movements is also vital to keeping the joints healthy.

Historically the traditional Thai loincloth has been used for multiple purposes including keeping fit.
