Pattaya power pole obliterated as foreign driver suddenly collapses

Emergency responders assist two foreign nationals after their vehicle struck a city power pole on Jomtien Second Road.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A foreign driver reportedly lost consciousness behind the wheel before an electric vehicle crashed into a roadside power pole in Pattaya, leaving one utility pole damaged and causing brief traffic disruption near a popular seafood restaurant. The accident occurred in front of a seafood restaurant on Jomtien Second Road. Pattaya City Police were alerted to the incident and responded immediately to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found a white BYD electric vehicle in a heavily damaged condition after it had struck a city power pole, snapping it into a break. One power pole was confirmed damaged at the scene.



Authorities coordinated with a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the roadway in order to restore traffic flow and ensure public safety. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver was a foreign man, accompanied by a foreign female passenger believed to be his partner. Both were assisted by emergency responders shortly after the crash and were not reported to have suffered serious injuries. According to initial accounts, the driver may have suddenly experienced dizziness or fainting while driving, resulting in a loss of control before the vehicle veered off the road and collided with the power pole. Police said a full investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the incident. Relevant agencies have also been notified to repair the damaged power infrastructure and restore normal conditions in the area.
