Education leaders and the Education Minister gathered in Pattaya to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on young people, focusing on digital literacy, ethics, and safeguarding students in the AI era.
PATTAYA, Thailand – The Council of Parents and Teachers of Thailand has organized a national academic seminar and its 2025 annual general meeting under the theme “Opportunities and Risks of AI for Youth,” aimed at strengthening digital resilience among Thai children. The event was held at the Nong Nooch International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pattaya, Chonburi province, with Education Minister Prasert Chandraruangthong presiding over the opening ceremony. The seminar brought together Dr. Niwat Nakavej, president of the Council of Parents and Teachers of Thailand, committee members, education administrators, school directors, education personnel, and participants from across the country. The opening ceremony also included the presentation of awards recognizing outstanding organizations and individuals in the education sector for 2025.
Dr. Niwat said the council recognizes the rapidly changing role of artificial intelligence in education, noting that AI presents both significant opportunities and emerging risks. While AI can enhance learning and expand access to knowledge without limits, it also raises concerns related to ethics, digital safety, and the potential weakening of social interaction skills among young people.
The event is being held from June 19 to 22 in both onsite and online formats, with live streaming via Facebook. More than 1,600 participants from across Thailand are attending the seminar.
Organizers said the purpose of the gathering is to provide a platform for knowledge exchange on AI’s impact on youth, share useful insights for parents, teachers, and students, and strengthen cooperation between schools and families. The event also aims to honor organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of Thailand’s education sector. Education Minister Prasert said AI plays an increasingly important role in modern education, and preparing young people to use it creatively, ethically, and safely is a national priority. He stressed that all sectors must work together to ensure students are equipped with the skills and awareness needed to navigate risks while benefiting from technological advancement, ultimately supporting a sustainable future for Thailand’s education system.
