The Interior Ministry and Phuket Province have opened an advisory and licensing centre to help hotel and entertainment operators resolve legal issues and streamline permit applications until 2 July.
PHUKET, Thailand –The Department of Provincial Administration, in cooperation with Phuket Province, has launched a new initiative aimed at easing regulatory barriers for tourism operators by setting up a “consultation center and licensing clinic” to address legal issues related to hotels and entertainment venues in a single, integrated system. The move, announced on 20 June, forms part of a broader government push to modernize regulations and support Thailand’s tourism industry as a key economic driver in the region. According to Department of Provincial Administration Director-General Narucha Kosasivilai, the initiative reflects Interior Ministry policy to proactively assist tourism entrepreneurs and resolve legal obstacles affecting hotel operations and entertainment venue licensing.
He said the government is working to position Thailand as a leading tourism destination in the region, shifting the focus from volume-based tourism to higher-value experiences, while updating laws to better match current business conditions. The goal is to reduce trade and investment barriers while improving public welfare and economic competitiveness. The newly established service includes a consultation and complaint centre, alongside a dedicated licensing clinic for operators facing difficulties or uncertainty in complying with hotel and venue regulations. Officials said the system is designed to provide fast, integrated, and practical guidance.
The service will operate from now until 2 July 2026, including weekends and public holidays, from 08:30 to 16:30. Two main service points have been set up: a central consultation center at Royal Phuket City Hotel, and permit submission points at district offices in Mueang Phuket, Kathu, and Thalang, depending on the location of the business. Authorities are encouraging hotel operators, entertainment venue owners, and those in the process of applying for permits or facing regulatory challenges to use the service to resolve issues and ensure compliance with the law. Officials said the initiative is intended to raise industry standards, strengthen legal compliance, improve investor confidence, and support the long-term growth of Phuket’s tourism economy.
