PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City has moved forward with plans to upgrade sidewalks along Pattaya Second Road and Pattaya Third Road, reinforcing its commitment to becoming a more accessible, inclusive, and pedestrian-friendly tourism destination under the “Pattaya Tourism for All” policy.

On Feb 6, Mayor Poramet Ngampichet chaired a coordination meeting at Pattaya City Hall to review implementation plans for the projects, joined by relevant municipal officials, and representatives from the two contracted construction firms.

The city aims to position Pattaya as a model for Universal Design, ensuring infrastructure can be safely and comfortably used by all groups — including children, seniors, people with disabilities, and visitors of all ages. The sidewalk improvements form part of a broader strategy to enhance urban mobility, safety, and the overall streetscape in key tourism zones such as beachfront areas, Naklua, and other major visitor corridors.

City officials and contractors discuss design standards and accessibility features aimed at supporting Pattaya’s “Tourism for All” policy.

For Pattaya Second Road, the sidewalk renovation has been awarded to Silawat Limited Partnership. Meanwhile, the upgrade of sidewalks and street lighting along Pattaya Third Road will be carried out by Inthana Construction Co., Ltd. Both projects will follow Pattaya City standards, focusing on pedestrian safety, smoother surfaces, and designs suited to each area’s urban context.

City officials have also been instructed to conduct on-site consultations with local business operators to gather feedback and identify potential challenges. The input will be used to refine designs and ensure the works balance the needs of residents, tourists, and commercial stakeholders.

The initiative reflects Pattaya’s broader effort to systematically improve infrastructure, raise urban quality of life, and create a more welcoming environment for everyone — strengthening the city’s long-term appeal as a sustainable, internationally competitive tourism hub.

Planned sidewalk improvements will prioritize pedestrian safety, universal design principles, and a more walkable urban environment in key tourism areas.
