PATTAYA, Thailand – Major retail operators including Big C, Lotus’s, Makro, Tops, The Mall Lifestore, Go Wholesale and Gourmet Market are joining Thailand’s new cost-of-living relief initiative as the government prepares to launch the “Thai Chuay Thai” (Thais Help Thais) program.
The scheme will offer more than 1,000 discounted essential goods, including rice, cooking oil, and household necessities, with price reductions of up to 30% at participating stores.
The official launch will take place at Government House on April 1, with Commerce Minister Supajee Sutthumpun and senior private sector executives in attendance.
Big C Supercenter said its 1,646 branches nationwide are ready for rollout, while Gourmet Market reported significant discounts on selected house-brand items, with some prices cut by nearly 60%.
Retail activity is expected to increase in urban and tourism hubs as consumers respond to the cost-of-living relief measures.
The program will be marked by a “Thai Chuay Thai” logo displayed at participating outlets nationwide.
