Three people were injured when an illegal street race caused chaos on Sukhumvit Road.
Boonmee Buathongsing, 47, and an unidentified foreigner and girl were riding on a Yamaha Aerox 155 when they were hit by an Isuzu D-Max driven by Yuttana Suparukkiat, 30, Feb. 9.

Boonmee suffered a large cut to her forehead and was knocked unconscious in a fall near Big C’s South Pattaya branch. The other two suffered only cuts and scrapes.

Witnesses said the accident occurred as two modified pickups belching black smoke raced down Sukhumvit Road. One collided with Boonmee’s motorbike, and both vehicles went out of control. The truck hit an electric pole and the other racer sped off.

The three-person motorbike zoomed across traffic lanes and collided with Yuttana’s truck.
Yuttana, who was not one of the racers, said he was driving in the right lane. As he approached a traffic light, the out-of-control motorbike crossed into his lane, and he hit it.

Police will review CCTV footage to sort out the chaos and pursue the racers.

One of the racing pickups hit an electric pole while the other racer sped off.

The Isuzu pickup was not one of the racers but was caught up in the collateral damage the racers caused.
