Father injured, daughter critical in horror pickup plunge from Bangkok expressway

A pickup truck falls from Bangkok’s Sri Rat Expressway into a construction site, leaving a father injured and his young daughter critically hurt.

BANGKOK, Thailand – A serious early-morning accident in Bangkok left a father injured and his three-year-old daughter critically hurt after their pickup truck crashed through the Sri Rat Expressway and fell into a construction site below. The accident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on August 2, near Rom Ratchathewi Park on the Sri Rat Expressway, in the Makkasan area of Ratchathewi District. Police from Expressway Station 2, traffic officers from Din Daeng Police Station, expressway rescue teams, Erawan Emergency Medical Centre personnel, and Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.



Authorities found a grey Bangkok-registered pickup truck lying on its side among concrete debris inside the construction area. The front of the vehicle was severely damaged. The driver, a man estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, suffered a head injury and bleeding from his nose. Inside the vehicle, rescuers found a young girl aged around three to four years old suffering critical injuries. Both victims were urgently taken to hospital for treatment.


Construction workers at the site said they heard a loud crash from above before seeing the pickup truck fall from the expressway and hit the concrete pile below. They rushed to help and found the injured driver and child inside the vehicle before contacting emergency services. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, including reviewing CCTV footage and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances behind the accident.
