Two days after a Pattaya convenience store reopened after being closed for a month due to fire, it again was struck by another blaze.

Flames broke out around 8:30 a.m. at the Family Mart on Petchtrakul Road in Naklua. Five fire trucks took 30 minutes to control the blaze.

An initial investigation determined the fire started in a storage room near an electric breaker box.

Clerk Cheunnapa Pengsakul, 18, said that while she was working with the other two colleagues she noticed fire and smoke in the back. All the staff ran out of the shop before calling the fire department.

Firefighters use large suction purifiers to extract smoke from the store.

The same store was hit by fire on Feb. 21 in a blaze that started with a short-circuited refrigerator. The shop had only reopened March 24.

Damage was estimated at 500,000 baht.
