Anuwat Ratchawong’s mother, Khemaon Chanyawat, pleads for keyboard warriors to stop speculating online about what happened during the night her son was murdered.

Relatives and friends of a Pattaya man killed by his girlfriend said the woman, not the dead man, was aggressive and hot-tempered.

Family members gathered at Thamsamakee Temple July for the funeral of Anuwat Ratchawong, 26, who was stabbed in the heart a day earlier at his Nongprue home by Nutchthida Sombatwong, 28, who told police the attack was in self-defense because her often-abusive boyfriend was beating her.

Those who turned out for the funeral claimed otherwise, calling Nutchthida a bad drunk who got aggressive and easily angered when drinking.

Natwarin Thongsom, 34, called her friend “joyful and calm” and said she didn’t believe Nutchthida’s story. She said Nutchthida always insulted Anuwat and thinks she was drinking and stabbed him in anger during an argument. She was not there, however.

Anuwat’s mother, Khemaon Chanyawat, 53, said she had met Nutchthida when the couple came upcountry to visit. She didn’t like the way the woman talked and often heard them argue.

Khemaon said she thought Nutchthida didn’t care for Anuwat and wondered why they stayed together.

The public, however, has come out strongly on Nutchthida’s side with uninformed keyboard warriors leaving all manner of insults and negative comments on social media posts about the killing.

Khemaon said she wanted all the comments to stop, as those leaving opinions don’t know the facts, and threatened to file lawsuits against people expressing views not in agreement with hers.
