BANGKOK, Thailand – A Chinese tourist received help from Don Mueang Tourist Police after a cancelled flight booked through Trip.com left the traveller unable to fly to Yangon. The tourist sought assistance at around 4.30 a.m. on August 9 after discovering that the Don Mueang–Yangon AirAsia flight had been cancelled. The traveller said Trip.com had not sent any notification about the cancellation.
Tourist Police accompanied the traveller to the AirAsia counter to check the booking. Staff found that the reservation information had not been updated and still showed the original booking date of August 8, preventing the tourist from travelling on August 9. Tourist Police and AirAsia staff then helped the traveller contact the Trip.com call center. After checking the booking, Trip.com determined that the problem had resulted from an error in its application.
Trip.com subsequently arranged a new flight for August 10 at no additional cost to the tourist.
