PATTAYA, Thailand – Chonburi immigration officers arrested a Chinese national for illegally providing hair-cutting services in Pattaya, part of ongoing efforts to protect jobs reserved for Thai citizens.

At 5:00 PM on March 20, authorities conducted an operation at an office building on Sukhumvit Road, following a tip that a Chinese barber was offering services to fellow nationals. Officers found the 40-year-old suspect actively cutting a client’s hair, with three to four others waiting.

Barbering tools, including clippers, combs, scissors, and hair dryers, were seized. Checks on the clients’ passports and visas revealed no violations.

The suspect was taken into custody and faces charges under Thailand’s Foreign Work Act for “working without a permit,” which restricts certain professions to Thai citizens.

Authorities emphasized that the arrest reflects continuing enforcement of labor laws to ensure foreign workers comply with regulations.
