Thailand’s Election Commission has officially certified Chadchart Sittipunt as Bangkok Governor and Poramet Ngampichet as Pattaya Mayor following the June 28 local elections.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Election Commission (EC) has officially certified the election results for Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, along with members of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council and Pattaya City Council. The EC approved the certification after reviewing the election results and finding no complaints indicating that the elections, held on June 28, were affected by irregularities that would undermine their fairness and transparency.

Chadchart Sittipunt was certified as Bangkok Governor after receiving 1,537,784 votes, while all 50 Bangkok Metropolitan Council members were also certified. In Pattaya, Poramet Ngampichet was officially confirmed as mayor after receiving 20,184 votes, along with the certification of all six Pattaya City Council members. The EC stated that the certification does not limit its authority to investigate or take further action if complaints or objections regarding the election results are submitted after the announcement. Those certified are expected to receive their official certificates from the EC office starting July 8. (TNA)
