Pattaya’s easily recognized “boys in brown” were anything but recognized or brown for Songkran as officers dressed up in traditional Thai costume for the Thai New Year.

Police chief Pol. Col. Apichai Kroppech hosted an April 18 water-pouring ceremony with all the officers dressed in a different type of uniform.

Apichai and his wife led the pouring of blessed water over a Buddha statue before the chief addressed his troops, wishing them good luck and prosperity for the coming year.

He said that, apart from crime prevention and facilitating people, Pattaya police would wear Thai outfits during for both April 18 and 19, the “wan lai” Songkran finales for Naklua and Pattaya, respectively.
