An early morning brawl over unpaid food pitted a Pattaya tourist against chair-wielding Thais on Walking Street.
The 4:30 a.m. April 29 melee on Walking Street was captured on video, smearing Pattaya’s reputation for tourist safety again.

The fight began when an argument between a European man and Thai woman broke out, allegedly over unpaid food. The woman started hitting the foreigner, who tried to defend himself.
Thai men loitering nearby joined in, kicking the tourist when he was down.

Witnesses tried to break up the fight, but the Thai man wouldn’t give up, pushing the foreigner to the ground. Another Thai man then picked up a chair and bashed the tourist.
To his credit, the European snatched the chair away and tried to hit his attacker with it, but was stopped by bystanders.

Residents and tourists were disgusted with what they saw and said they never imagined they would see such brutality against tourists in this world-renowned resort.
