So many ATMs seems redundant

Re: S. Korean banks closing down ATMs on mobile banking trend (PM Friday, 09 January 2015) – I cannot see reductions in the use of ATMs in Thailand as of yet. The majority of transactions done in Thailand are completed in cash, not with an electronic reader from your cell phone. I believe this to be true for not just expats, but for the Thai’s as well. Cash is #1.

I do agree, however, that they do not need a row of 8 different ATMs lined up next to each other on every 2nd street. All of the banks’ ATMs here seem to accept every other bank’s ATM, without fees, for those people with Thai bank ATM cards. So many machines seem redundant.
