Smiles after a challenging round as Martin joins Allan Cassin and Steve Lunt, enjoying the post-game atmosphere following the Mybar Golf Society outing.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Mybar Golf Society enjoyed another competitive week of golf with challenging rounds at Mountain Shadow and Pattana courses, where difficult layouts ensured that good scoring was hard-earned and countbacks played a decisive role in determining the winners.

Fifteen players teed it up at Mountain Shadow Golf Course on Tuesday, February 10, with the group pleased to welcome guest player Martin for his first outing. Over the customary pre-round coffee, much discussion centred on the known challenges of the course — discussions that proved well-founded once play began.

The course itself was in good condition, but Mountain Shadow once again lived up to its reputation as a demanding test. Despite favourable playing conditions, no player managed to play to handicap, and scoring remained tight throughout the field.

In a dramatic finish, four players tied on 33 points, with Allan Cassin ultimately taking first place on countback ahead of Steve Lunt, Bob Edwards, and Mike Mallot. It was a well-earned victory on a day where consistency proved more valuable than risk-taking. For guest player Martin, the course proved unforgiving, and he collected the spoon on his debut appearance with the society.

Results: Allan Cassin (9) – 33 points, Steve Lunt (8) – 33 points. Near pins: Steve Lunt, Maurice Paradis, Bob Edwards

Celebrating a successful day on the course, John Pegrum, Martin and Dave Smith share a relaxed moment after the Mybar Golf Society round.

On Thursday February 12 the society went to Pattana Golf Course, playing the A and B courses on what was an early start for many. Nevertheless, an excellent field of 19 players turned out, boosted by John Pegrum introducing three guests to the group.

The course was presented in superb condition and proved a pleasure to play, although its difficulty once again kept scores under control. Only one player managed to better his handicap on the day, underlining the challenge posed by the layout.

That player was John Pegrum, who delivered an impressive round of 38 points to take first place, possibly inspired by the presence of his guests. Dave Smith secured second place with a solid 35 points in another consistent performance. Martin again found the course testing and collected the spoon for the second successive round.

Results: John Pegrum (23) – 38 points, Dave Smith (11) – 35 points. Near pins: Dave Smith, Maurice Paradis, Graham Dorward (2)
