PATTAYA, Thailand – The Bunker Boys enjoyed another excellent week of golf with high scoring across three challenging venues, as Les Cobban and Rob Folland shared the honours while favourable weather once again stayed clear of the fairways.

Treasure Hill is widely regarded as one of the toughest courses on the Bunker Boys calendar, but Monday, July 27 Les Cobban made light work of it with a magnificent 42-point Stableford round off his 12 handicap – the highest score seen at the course for a very long time.

Frazer Davy edged Uwe Jurgensen on countback after both finished with 34 points, while Cobban also collected two near-pin prizes, with Davy and Jurgensen taking one each.

Despite Pattaya’s quiet tourism season and several regular members being away, the Bunker Boys continue to enjoy uninterrupted golf, with the recent rains arriving mostly after play.

Pattavia Golf Course presented an unusual sight Wednesday, July 29, with fairways looking surprisingly brown despite recent rain, while the greens proved much slower than normal. Once again, however, scoring remained excellent.

Rob Folland continued his superb form with another winning score of 42 points, showing that his recent handicap reduction from 19 to 15 has done little to slow him down. Frazer Davy finished second on 38 points, while Michael Brett claimed third with 37 points after edging Les Cobban on countback. Only three near-pin prizes were won, with Les Cobban taking two and Alan Sullivan one.

Heavy rain arrived later in the afternoon, but only after everyone had completed their rounds.

Renovation work continues throughout Greenwood, with the clubhouse redevelopment progressing well and extensive improvements being made to the C Course. Even so, the current all-in green fee remains excellent value.

On Friday, July 31, Rob Folland capped another outstanding week by taking first place with 41 points, giving him two victories from three outings. Les Cobban finished second with 35 points after a mixed round that included two birdies, while Alan Sullivan took third on 34 points. Frank Dartford and Michael Brett shared the near-pin honours.

Folland’s remarkable consistency also earned him Golfer of the Month, as his July total of 240 points equalled the Bunker Boys monthly record set earlier this year by Colin Greig. With Rob heading away for a month-long health retreat, his rivals will have a chance to close the gap before his return.
