The Ministry of Public Health launches a pilot program offering free 9-valent HPV vaccines to unvaccinated women aged 20-26 at 24 universities nationwide, aiming to improve women’s health and reduce cervical cancer rates.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government is expanding free HPV vaccinations to university students to improve women’s health and reduce cervical cancer rates.

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is piloting a free HPV vaccination program for female university students in 24 select universities nationwide. This initiative builds upon the existing HPV vaccination program for girls aged 11-12 or high school students in their final year. Despite the previous program’s success, some university students in the 11-20 age range have not received the vaccine.

This pilot program aims to increase access to the vaccine for women aged 20-26 who have not been vaccinated previously. Data will be collected during the pilot phase before potentially expanding the program to other universities. The vaccine administered in this program is the 9-valent HPV vaccine. (NNT)
