Thai-Indonesian Business Council encourages bilateral trade, investment

BANGKOK, April 28 – Thai-Indonesian Business Council chairman Nipit Isarankura said today the Council has the support and encourages the expansion of trade and investment between Thailand and Indonesia.

He said the Council would give its full support to the Thai business community to invest in Indonesia. 

Indonesia has a population of  230 million, and the country is investing in various infrastructure projects which could be considered a golden opportunity for the Thai business community, he said.

Mr Nipit said that some leading Thai companies have invested in Indonesia including Siam Cement (SCG) and PTT and others have invested in coal mines.

More opportunity has opened for Thailand as Indonesia is adjusting trade and investment procedures in readiness for the AEC in 2015 and there will be a Presidential election in the third quarter this year.

The Council has prepared a strategic plan for investment in Indonesia and Thailand, he said

Last year Thai companies invested in 38 Indonesian 38 projects worth US$104 million.
