SONGKHLA, Sept 1 – Malaysian tourists have flocked to this Thai southern province’s Hat Yai district as a result of the long holidays in Malaysia, generating over Bt150 million in circulation.

The vacation comprised the last day of Ramadan, or ‘Hareerayor’, which coincides with the Malaysian national day, and school holidays.

Surapol Kampalanonwat, Songkhla’s Tourism Business Association chairman, said Malay travellers were more confident regarding Thailand’s security, and the money circulation had increased in only one week, while they also travelled to other southern provinces.

He asked government authorities to facilitate tourists in entering and leaving the country, for the services are slow, as some complained.

According to a Malaysian tourist, most Malaysians like Thailand for its diverse goods at reasonable prices, delicious food, and Thai massage.
