PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya municipal officers issued a warning to a street vendor after finding him selling sweet corn from a pickup truck while occupying public space along South Pattaya Road on Sept 12. Naklua municipal officers conducting an inspection found the man had parked his pickup truck by the roadside and set up two large umbrellas while selling sweet corn to passing customers.
Officials said the setup occupied public space and could obstruct traffic and affect the convenience and safety of pedestrians and other road users.
The vendor was issued a warning and instructed to comply with regulations governing the use of public areas. Officers also explained the relevant procedures and advised him to operate in accordance with the rules. Officials said cases found to constitute an offence would be referred for fines in accordance with the applicable procedures. The inspection forms part of Pattaya’s efforts to keep public areas orderly while ensuring convenience and safety for residents, pedestrians and motorists.
