PATTAYA, Thailand – A new update from Pattaya’s Direct Line to Mayor Beer (Pattaya City Mayor Poramet Ngampichet) says the city’s public sports park on Soi Chaiyapruek 2 near the Indoor Stadium is nearing completion, with workers putting the finishing touches on a new blue running track ahead of its official opening. The track remains closed to the public while painting and other final works are completed, but recent images from the site show the renovation is close to finished.
The upgraded facility has attracted interest from local residents eager to use the track for running and exercise. Some have also asked how long the new track is and when it will officially open.
Residents have raised several concerns alongside their support for the project. One recurring issue is stray dogs, with people saying packs of dogs were previously seen in the park and could pose a danger to children and other visitors. Some residents also recalled incidents in which people were reportedly bitten.
Others called on the city to prevent cars and motorcycles from entering the sports area and asked dog owners to clean up after their pets. Several comments focused on the need for proper maintenance once the renovation is completed, with residents saying the facility should be looked after so it remains usable for many years rather than being allowed to deteriorate before another renovation is required.
The discussion also prompted suggestions for additional public running facilities in other parts of Pattaya, including North Pattaya, while some residents asked whether improvements could also be made at the Mabprachan Reservoir public park in Pong. For now, runners will have to wait a little longer before using the new blue track, with final works continuing at the Chaiyapruek 2 sports park.
