PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand’s national police chief has ordered an urgent investigation into allegations that a suspect accused of murdering two Russian siblings obtained illegal drugs from police officers in Chonburi. Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, said on August 3 that Police General Kittirat Phanphet had instructed relevant units to conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation into claims circulating about the case.
The allegations suggest that the suspect, identified as Thana, also known as “Pong,” received narcotics from officers attached to Huai Yai Police Station in Chonburi Province. Police General Kittirat stressed that investigators must establish the facts carefully and without bias. He also warned that if any police officers are found to have been involved—whether by supplying drugs, providing assistance, or accepting benefits—they will face the strictest disciplinary and criminal action without exception. The police chief said decisive action is necessary to uphold the integrity, credibility, and reputation of the Royal Thai Police. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not confirmed any wrongdoing by police officers at this stage.
