AYUTTHAYA, Thailand – A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Ayutthaya after allegedly posing as an online fortune teller and defrauding victims of more than 10 million baht over four years by using artificial intelligence (AI) to generate fortune readings. Police from Bang Sri Mueang Police Station in Nonthaburi arrested Siwakorn, also known as To, Yaemcharoen, at a house in Bang Sai district, Ayutthaya, on November 3. The arrest followed a complaint from a woman who said she had transferred more than 80,000 baht for fortune-telling services and rituals.

According to police, the suspect admitted he was not a genuine fortune teller. He said a friend had initially posted his LINE QR code on social media as a prank, after which people began contacting him for readings. Short of money at the time, he searched AI tools using clients’ dates of birth and sent the generated predictions back to them. He then began charging for readings and, after building relationships with some clients, allegedly asked to borrow additional money, claiming it was for investment.

The latest complainant reportedly transferred 80,000 baht in three payments, including two transfers of 25,000 baht and one of 30,000 baht, for what the suspect described as a ceremony to reverse bad fortune. The suspect told police he had continued the scheme for around four years before stopping about a month ago. He claimed to have received more than 10 million baht from clients, but said the money had been spent on gambling, particularly boxing matches and cockfighting. He also said he had sold all the equipment he used for fortune-telling.

Police charged him with fraud by impersonating another person and entering false information into a computer system in a manner likely to cause damage to others. He was handed over to investigators for legal proceedings. Police are urging anyone who believes they were also deceived by the suspect to visit Bang Sri Mueang Police Station to identify him and file additional complaints.
