PATTAYA, Thailand – A reported electrical leak at the Rong Po pedestrian bridge in Banglamung, just north of Pattaya, has prompted a safety inspection along a key northern approach to the city. The bridge is used by pedestrians travelling through the area along Sukhumvit Road, one of the main routes connecting northern communities with Pattaya. The inspection followed public complaints and social media posts expressing concern that electrical current might be leaking from equipment around the bridge, potentially endangering people using the crossing.
On November 3 at 9.30am, Banglamung Mayor Narathip Fakrit assigned municipal executives and members of the municipal council to join Provincial Electricity Authority officials from Pattaya in examining the site. The joint team carried out an initial inspection to establish whether an electrical hazard was present and to address concerns raised by residents and road users.
The municipality said the preliminary inspection found no immediate danger. It shared the findings with the public to ease concerns and reassure pedestrians using the bridge and people travelling along this busy northern gateway to Pattaya. The Rong Po pedestrian bridge is located within the area of Banglamung Municipality, but responsibility for the structure rests with the Department of Highways. The municipality coordinated with the electricity authority to have the reported concern checked and to provide information to the public.
The municipality said public safety remains a priority and urged residents to report concerns about potentially dangerous infrastructure so the relevant authorities can investigate.
