NARATHIWAT, Thailand – Royal Thai Army Commander-in-Chief General Pana Klaewplodtook visited security units in Narathiwat on July 25 to assess the situation following the July 22 attack on the Bukeh Sami security checkpoint in Ra-ngae district that killed five rangers and injured several civilians. He inspected Ranger Regiment Task Force 45 and Narathiwat Police Task Force 93 and received briefings on ongoing operations. Gen. Pana directed military and security agencies to intensify operations across Thailand’s southern border provinces, accelerate their assigned missions, and quickly report operational obstacles so additional support can be deployed. He also called for closer coordination among security agencies in responding to evolving threats.
The army chief instructed commanders to apply lessons learned from previous operations to improve tactics, intelligence, command and control, and coordination between military and police units. He also ordered regular assessments of operational performance to ensure security measures remain effective as conditions change. Gen. Pana thanked personnel for their service and urged them to carry out their duties with discipline and professionalism while giving top priority to the safety of civilians and security personnel. He affirmed that security forces will continue efforts to restore peace and stability in the southern border provinces. (NNT)
